Bread on the table

Welcome to Happiness is Homemade!  We are so glad you are here.  This week we expect to see a lot of creativity of the Valentine’s Day variety.  Valentine’s Day is just about a week away! This party always has the best recipes, crafts, home décor, DIY, kids activities, gift ideas and more.

Our hostess this month is Niki from over at Life as a LEO Wife.  She will be writing and choosing the features for the month of February.

This Week’s Features

MaryJo over at Master”pieces” of My Life shared 5 fantastic Valentine’s decorations that can be made with moss, like this fabulous XOXO wreath. I love that all of the ideas are unique and move away from the standard red and pink of normal Valentine’s decor ideas!

If you’re creating an at home Valentine’s celebration like we are, this heart napkin fold creating by Debbee of Debbee’s Buzz would be the perfect addition to your tablescape of love!

These heart shaped rice krispie treats, shared by Lenny of Fat Dad Foodie, would be the perfect addition to your child’s classroom Valentine’s Day party. You wouldn’t even have to send an extra Valentine for each child because these cuties would be made in their very own heart shaped cookie cutter that they can take home!

I’m sure that all of our crafty friends out there have some scrap wood lying around somewhere. This DIY pallet photo holder made by Regina from Saved from Salvage would be a great way to use up some of that wood that’s just collecting dust. It’s a piece of decor that you can change up for every season and holiday with ease!

Julie over at Sum of Their Stories made this recycled heart art canvas was made with things that she found in her craft stash, and I’m sure you have everything you need to make your own already. I can just picture a large version of this as a photo backdrop for a wedding (in your wedding colors) or for parties. Wouldn’t that be cute?!

Happiness Is Homemade Party

Happy November and the beginning of “standard time.”  Did you remember to “fall back” on Sunday?  Inevitably, some figure it out as everything seems to be just a little bit off and then the lightbulb turns on.  The time change sneaked up on them, again. Thanksgiving is a little over 2  weeks away.  Would you like some new dessert recipes to try out?  We decided that this week’s features will be all about desserts. After all, what is Thanksgiving without dessert on the menu?

Hope you find some inspiration with these yummy desserts or maybe you would like to share one of yours. We are always in the mood for dessert!

Have a wonderful day!

A Celebration of Desserts

First up on the dessert menu are these delightful Pumpkin Pie Cookies. As Lenny says, enjoy the pumpkin pie without all of the work. You don’t have to wait until Thanksgiving to make them.

Apple Dapple Cake

My mouth waters just thinking of this cake with fresh apple pieces with crunchy pecan pieces. Yummy!

If chocolate is your thing, then These Chocolate Chip Mini Cheesecake Cups are a great way to combine your love of chocolate chips with that delicious cupcake look!

If you are a fan of pumpkin pie, you will find these Pumpkin Pie Cupcakes to be a perfect spin on the traditional dessert. Pumpkin pie in the form of a cupcake.

Looking for more pumpkin dessert ideas. Then check out this Pumpkin Roll Recipe. I think it a fantastic fall treat and would be a great addition to Thanksgiving dinner as well.

I love upcycling things that are unusable into beautiful decor like these raised Sonoma tile wall art pieces. Lee Ann from Creative Moments hit a homerun with these!

Do you love doughnuts?  Me, too!  These baked pumpkin iced doughnuts look DELICIOUS.  They come to us with the easy recipe from Crystal & Comp.

Welcome to the Happiness is Homemade Link Party #443! I’m Niki from Life as a LEO Wife, and I’ll be choosing the party features for the month of September. This Week’s Features

This book page apple by Laura over at Me & My Inklings would be an adorable gift to give to your child’s teacher on the first day of school. We go back the first Thursday in August every year, so my son would be so jealous if he knew there were places that haven’t gone back yet! If you’re like us, head over and pin this idea for teacher’s appreciation day or to use next year.

apple craft

Niky over at The House on Silverado shared her tips for creating a beautiful fall porch. You have to go check out her entire outdoor area, because the picture below doesn’t capture all of it. You’ll be inspired to create a lovely space of your own!

fall front porch decor

How cute is this fall book page leaf garland made by Mary Jo of Master”pieces” of My Life?! She created it during the 2020 school year when her daughter was having to do remote learning. We all remember what a nightmare that was! The garland was a great way to bring school and fall together. I love all of the different shapes of leaves in it!

white sunflower decor

Debbee of Debbee’s Buzz made this lovely fall twig wreath for her son’s new apartment. I love how unique the twig base is, and I’m going to be on the lookout for my own! Her son must’ve taken after his mom, because he has excellent taste in decor. You have to go check out his new penthouse. You would think it was styled by professionals!

Welcome to the Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #439 – my name is Katie from Love My Messy Messy Mess and I am MEGA excited to be hosting this blog hop for the month of August – yay for me!

This Week’s Features

Zucchini Kofta Curry
Unfortunately there is no veggie garden at our home, Starry Acres, this year.  We decided to move our VERY rustic garden (it was falling apart!) to a different spot and use that space to store our camper.  My husband promised me raised beds for next year – I’ll take it!  One of my favorite and easiest veggies to grow is zucchini and if you’ve ever grown it yourself, you know how much one plant can produce so I’m always looking for different ways to use it.  This recipe for Zucchini Kofta Curry from Rahda at The Magical Ingredients looks like a fun and different way to use up that veggie!

12 Really Cool DIY Mason Jar Projects
Another item I have a lot of – mason jars!  I use them throughout the year for making pickles, freezer jam, storing fruit in the refrigerator, etc.  But it’s fun to use them for creative purposes too, so check out Sinea’s 12 Really Cool DIY Projects with Mason Jars at Ducks ‘n A Row.

Better Than Coffee-House Chai Tea Recipe
Summers are beautiful here in Western New York, usually falling between 75-85 degrees F on any given day.  That’s not to say it doesn’t get hotter, and our humidity can be pretty awful at times.  Coffee in the morning can feel a bit heavy, so I like to have a tasty chai tea instead.  This recipe from Kendra for Better Than Coffee-House Chai Tea sounds so yummy!

I am the biggest Dollar Tree fan – just check out my Instagram stories and you’ll see I regularly share my latest purchases :D. The possibilities are endless when it comes to remaking the items you can purchase there to make them fit your decor style.  Linda from A Labour of Love did just that with her Dollar Tree Foam Pumpkin Makeover – click to see what she did!
