Spring Gift Ideas

Guest Post by Katie F.

The weather is finally starting to warm up a little, and the days are longer everyday!  Flowers will begin to bloom soon, and the snow will finally go away.  If you’re looking for some springtime gift ideas (or just want to celebrate spring in a fun way), then try out some of these flower-themed gifts:

·       Paperwhites—These white flowers are really easy to grow indoors and will make your house, or someone else’s house, look and smell like spring.  Paperwhites have small, white flowers and are very fragrant.  There are a couple of ways that you could give these flowers as a gift—either planted or unplanted.  Paperwhites that are given unplanted could be given as a part of a kit including paperwhite bulbs, a pot, and potting soil.  The advantage to this is that when paperwhites are given unplanted, the receiver can choose when to plant the bulbs.  On the other hand, if you give already planted paperwhites, then the individual who is receiving the gift will not need to worry about setting anything up.
·       Flower Cookies–Sugar cookies can be adapted for many different occasions and holidays, and flower-shaped sugar cookies are perfect for spring!  Find different types of flower-shaped cookie cutters, and use them on your favorite sugar cookie dough.  Once the sugar cookies are baked, you can use fun spring-colored icing to make your cookies look bright and cheerful.  When giving these cookies as a gift, put them on foam plates so that you won’t have to worry about getting the plate back later.
·    Chocolate–Covered Flowers—Edible flowers are not one of the most common foods, but they certainly are one of the prettiest!  For easy but elegant candies, try dipping edible flowers in your favorite type of chocolate.  You could completely submerge the flowers in chocolate, or you could cover just one side of each flower so that you can still see the flower itself.
Spring is such a hopeful time when everything comes back to life.  Flowers are a great representation of that, so I hope you enjoy these flower gift ideas!
