This is the easiest preschool craft our class has ever made but so rewarding! Kids love glitter and glitter we did. I can think of a number of uses for this popsicle stick craft including a Christmas mobile, ornament and – what we used it for – a prop for our “Dance Like Snowflakes” song in the holiday show. If you don’t have popsicle sticks at home, you can buy small craft sticks instead.
Glittery Snowflake Craft
Supplies
popsicle or craft sticks (4 per flake)
white school glue
glitter
q-tips
q-tips
construction paper (for cleanup)
Preschoolers will do best if you pre-glue the sticks for them. Children in kindergarten or older can do everything themselves.
Directions
Glue 4 popsicle sticks criss-cross on top of each other.
Let them dry.
Using a q-tip for young children or the bottle for older apply glue on the branches of the flake in designs and sprinkle lots of glitter on.
Shake off the excess.
Lay them out to dry.
Glitter Tip: to minimize the mess and salvage unused glitter, use paper to catch the excess.
Take two piece of construction or copier paper.
Fold one in quarters and then unfold it.
Lay it on the table.
Fold the second sheet in half.
Lay it on top of the first piece.
Hold the snowflake over the pages and sprinkle glitter.
After the snowflake has been glittered, shaken and layed out to dry, take the top piece of paper and pour the excess back into the glitter container HOLDING IT OVER the second page.
There will be spillage.
Now you have that glitter on the second page and can also put it into the container.
Simple and effective!
