This DIY gift for women – homemade sugar facial scrub – is a gift idea that I have pinned over and over again. Every version looks so pretty. So, it was finally time to make it myself and I love it! I made this DIY Sugar Facial Scrub in three scents: lemon, raspberry and coconut/almond. It leaves your skin soft and pretty. Try it! I think you’ll like it.
My inspiration came as I was looking at some Smuckers jars in my refrigerator. The jam is delicious and the jars are pretty, too. So, I transferred the jam into other containers, cleaned them out and set out to make three different scents of sugar facial scrub to give to my dear sister-in-law, Sue, as a gift.
The recipe is simple and I think you will love the results!
DIY Sugar Facial Scrub
Ingredients
1 cup granulated sugar
(add 1/3 cup brown sugar to the coconut almond version)
1 cup organic coconut oil*
1/4 tsp flavored extract**
2-3 drops food coloring (optional)
Directions
Combine the sugar and coconut oil in a mixing bowl.
If you are making more than one scent, separate the whole batch into different bowls before flavoring.
Add flavored extract and food coloring of your preference to each bowl.

Store on the counter of your bathroom or on your vanity.
Tip 1: soften the coconut oil to room temperature for easier blending.
Tip 2: some coconut oil has little to no scent, others smell like coconut. That will affect how the scrub smells. I used odorless coconut oil for my lemon and raspberry scrubs. For the coconut almond, the oil itself added the coconut scent and then I added some drops of almond extract. The brown sugar gives it some speckles for a textured look!
