Make A Fun Movie Night Party With War Room

When I first heard about “War Room” I was so excited to see it. Inspiring stories where faith in God and love prevail are the best. What a great movie!  I decided it would be fun to invite my prayer buddies over for  “girls night at the movies” and watch it!

So, I made my list and headed off to Walmart to buy a copy of War Room and party foods, too: Coca-Cola 6-packs (16.9 oz bottles), Orville Redenbacher Movie Theater Popcorn and MARS Milk Chocolate M&M’s® to decorate my homemade snowman sugar cookies!

Walmart was fun. As you can see, I was all over the place! It was simple to locate everything I needed and checking out was a breeze. I was able to pay for everything at the counter in the entertainment section of the store. What a nice surprise!

Home again. This party is going to be easy to put together. My friends always bring a dish to pass so, in addition to popcorn and Coca-Cola I will just have to bake cookies. The M&M’s® are perfect for buttons on the snowman tummies and an orange one for the nose.

We’ll have Coca-Cola to drink and what’s a movie without popcorn? I was thrilled to see that the Orville Redenbacher Movie Theater Popcorn pops in its own bowl. Talk about “no fuss, no muss!”  Plus, it tastes just like movie theater popcorn. Yum!

So, here is how I made my MARS Milk Chocolate M&M’s® Snowman Cookies:

Rolled Snowman Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups butter, softened
2 cups granulated sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
5 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt

Tub of vanilla frosting
Tub of dark chocolate frosting
Bag of MARS Milk Chocolate M&M’s®s
Decorator frosting in little tubes

Preparing the Dough
Cream softened butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl.
Add eggs and vanilla, mixing on medium speed.
Add baking powder, salt and flour (add flour one cup at a time) and blend.
Separate into two sections of dough.
Wrap in plastic wrap.
Refrigerate 1 hour up to 24 hours.

Baking Directions
Preheat oven 400°
Lightly flour a clean counter.
Roll one section of dough, using a rolling pin, to about 1/2 inch thick.
Cut out with cookie cutters
Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 6-8 minutes till very lightly brown on the edges.
Cool completely.
Frost and decorate.

Snowman Cookie Decorations
Vanilla frosting: body and face
Dark chocolate frosting: top hat
Mini-chocolate chips: eyes
MARS Milk Chocolate M&M’s®s: buttons and nose
Decorator frosting tubes: pink (mouth), red (band on hat), green (scarf)

Tip: Sprinkle a little flour on top of the dough before rolling and rub some flour on your rolling pin. It prevents the dough from sticking to the rolling pin.
Tip: When cutting out the cookies, if it doesn’t come out easily, use a toothpick to run along the outer line. Then you can lift it out and onto your cookie sheet.
Tip: Always place the uncooked cookies on a COOL cookie sheet.
