Happiness is Homemade

HIH June 6

Hello and welcome to this week’s Happiness is Homemade Party –  #640.  Summer is not officially here in the northern hemisphere but, where I live in the USA, it sure FEELS like it is!  We have been enjoying some lovely 80° blue sky days.  That’s my kind of weather!

My name is Sinea and I blog over at Ducks ‘n a Row.  We all are so glad that you stopped by to join us today.  For my first week hosting, I selected one delicious recipe and some truly unique crafts that I just love and a “blast from the past” thrifting score that brings back memories.  I hope you enjoy them!

Bloggers, have you ever considered joining a blog party team?  We all combine our efforts to help other bloggers be seen by a larger audience by hosting the same party on all of our blogs.  If you are interested, please reach out to one of our team and let us know!  We will tell you all about how it works…its easy.   (Maybe some of you used to feature a blog party and took some time off.  Why not get back in the groove and join Happiness is Homemade?)

Chicken Mushroom Cornish Pastries

Cornish chicken

You will love and enjoy these creamy chicken mushroom Cornish pastries by Esme of Esme’s Salon.  She gives us 3 great reasons why we will be DELIGHTED with this recipe:

  1. The pastry turns crisp and flaky without complicated steps.
  2. The creamy chicken filling feels hearty but still light enough for dinner.
  3. They freeze beautifully, so you can keep extras ready for busy nights.

Sounds great to me! 😊

New Pattern:  Faux Colorwork Crochet Bag

bag

Do you “speak” crochet?   I have crocheted a few times and truly enjoyed it but I have to say that I can only imagine what Harper at Stitch Whisper is talking about but it sounds like good news to all you crochet lovers.  This is what she said: “Traditionally, the most common way to crochet a basket or pouch is to work VERY TIGHTLY in single crochet, which can hurt your hand.  By switching to the pattern stitch in this bag, you can save your hand from the pain of working in such a tight gauge, bump up the hook size to something reasonable, and still end up with a sturdy bag fabric that does not need to be lined.”  Good news, right?!  Head on over and check it out:   New Pattern! Faux Colorwork Bag (Crochet)

Vintage Cabbage Patch Doll Thrifting Haul!

cabbage patch dolls

Remember Cabbage Patch dolls???  In the day, parents and grandparents stood in endless lines at the toy store trying to get their little girl the exact one that she had her heart set on.  Sometimes it worked out.  Sometimes they sold out before the line got to you.  Jennifer of Studio 27 hit the thrifting bonanza with the Cabbage Patch Doll Haul!
