Happiness Is Homemade Link Party of the Week

Welcome to our party!

It’s August here at Happiness Is Homemade. Can you believe that it is August? Where has the summer gone?  I am so excited to be your hostess for the month. Come along with me as I pick and share features that I hope will inspire you. I love seeing all of your DIY ideas, recipes, crafts, fashion, etc. This week’s features are delicious recipes with a cute craft thrown in.  (You should never pick features when you are hungry!)  ~Bev @Eclecticredbarn.b;ogspot.com

On with this week’s features!

As you may know if you follow me, my brother-in-law manages a farm in Georgia that has pecans and peaches so when I saw this dish, I knew I had to make it. Fresh peaches are amazing, especially when they are fresh picked.  Patrick made this flatbread with peaches, cheese and a honey balsamic reduction.  Yummy! Check out the recipe at Looney for Food.

I love chicken cordon blue, but if you are in hurry, try this one pan dish instead.  It is fast and easy and you can have it on your table in 25 minutes or less. Now that is my kind of dinner. Check out Kristen’s recipe at Dizzy Busy and Hungry.

Sometimes you just need a snack. This Chili-Cheese Dip only uses 4 ingredients. Scoop up some of that hot and gooey cheese melted over chili with a corn chip and make your taste buds happy. Check out Dani’s recipe over at 2 Dishing Divas.

After all that great food, I wanted something sweet and what better than cheesecake? Marilyn over at Marilyn’s Treats always has such amazing desserts and this Snickers Cheesecake is calling me.  Head over and check out the recipe.

Although it is not food, this craft project is so adorable. I had not heard of teacup fascinators before and Debbie created her own version. You can get full details on how to make your own Whimsical Teacup Fascinators over at Debbee Buzz.

Welcome!

My time as monthly host of Happiness Is Homemade Link Party is coming to an end. I am handing off the hosting to Bev at Electric Red Barn.  I have loved looking through the fabulous DIY ideas & recipes.  I have so many ideas for my August activities. I have found 4 great featured post for this week.  I know we are almost in “Back to School” time, but the featured posts this week are all about summer living. I am looking forward to all the new ideas for this week.  ~Susan @Craftingafamily.com

On with this week’s features!

It is so important to read to your children from the earliest age. Children who have a lot of reading time learn to talk, read and are soothed. I read to my infants to help them go to sleep, just hearing your voice and the calming rhythm of a story is soothing. So when I saw Anika’s DIY Rain Gutter Bookshelves I had to share her project with you. Perfect for any age she has set them low for little ones to reach.  Check out the project at DIY Rain Gutter Bookshelves.

After a long day with the kids, you will want to make a batch of Marci’s Lemon Balm Tea. She has a simple natural and quick way to make a perfectly refreshing summer tea with your lemon balm plant.  I have loved lemon balm for years and grow it everywhere in my garden but never took the time to dry it to make tea, I am so glad I found this easy recipe to use this summer. Check out her recipe at Stone Cottage Adventures.

Waldorf Salad is a classic summer salad. It is a favorite from my childhood as my mother made it all summer long. Simple, light with lots of veggies you will have to try Waldorf Salad from Simply Stacie.Stick-on Vinyl is a crafters dream, there are so many ways to use it (but just not enough time to craft). Carol at Bluesky at Home has a collection of 75 awesome ideas for using vinyl decals. Now that we are in “Back to School” crafting you have to check out all the great project at 75 Awesome Ways to Use Vinyl Decals.

Welcome back to the Happiness is Homemade Link Party #230

Wow, we are mid-July and I am already thinking of Back to School, can you believe it. While we are starting to make lists and planning shopping trips we should not be ready to give up on summer just yet. The days are long warm and sunny and there were great ideas from last weeks posts. I am excited to extend summer as long as I can.

On with this week’s features!

What cute tote bags for kids and adults alike that love the Minion Movies. Great for a beach bag, vacation bag, book bag or even a bag for Halloween candy for tricker treat. Material list and step by step instructions. Find this super cute post at Gluesticksblog.com

When you are spending all of your evenings and weekends crafting, hiking, and swimming, we all need an easy dinner that does not keep us in the kitchen. Kellylynnsweetsandtreats.com shows us how we can have a traditional take-out food right at home with this delicious Crockpot Orange Chicken.

Another cute kid craft project with a step by step instruction is Gluesticksblog.com, with Melt & Pour Glycerin Fish Soap. You will love the cute summer fish and she has several other soap projects.

Two favorite treats combined into one never looked so delicious cookie. You will want to make these for all your summer parties.  Take a look at Chocolate Chip Sandwich Cookies by Playdatesparties.com.

Welcome back to the Happiness is Homemade Link Party #229

We are into the beautiful long days of summer where it is hard to believe it will ever end. School is still far enough away we can remember and encourage our kids to lay out in the grass and watch the clouds go by (if your kids are like mine you have to put the electronics in timeout, to make them go outside). We love the outdoors and all the beautiful warm days & love to spend time with family during a more relaxed time of the year.  I know you are going to love the features this week. Campfires are one of my favorite activities and you will see why I could not resist the first feature post. Grab the kids and go outside and enjoy some summer snacks & fun. ~Susan @craftingafamily.com

On with this week’s features!

Summer is all I have on my mind & there is one thing I love most about summer, it is campfires and S’mores. Anything that is about S’mores I love and All That Jas’s recipe of “The Best No-Churn S’Mores Ice Cream” grabbed my attention.  She says “it is the best and the only recipe you will ever need” and I all in.

Any summer party that includes kids will love this next recipe from Crystal & Co.  Just the presentation makes any meal a party. Amazing Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes, but wait you do not need ice cream. These adorable cupcakes look like a Sunday but are all cupcake. A perfect party treat.

All summer long crafts are a big part of the fun we have with our kids. White House Crafts has the perfect cute summer craft to make with your little ones that they will want to make tons of them. Check out Metallic Washi Tape Bumble Bees, no stingers & tons of fun.

I like to decorate my home to remind me of summer vacations. Rain on a Tin Roof has just the summer fun beach style for a mudroom & laundry room with Mudroom & Laundry Room Makeover Reveal. What a beautiful design & imaginative decorations. I have already pined!
