The very first time I posted on my blog, Ducks ‘n a Row, was January 9, 2012 and my post was entitled “Meatballs – A Delicious Warm-Me-Up Meal for a Cold Winter’s Night.” I shared my very user-friendly recipe just the way I made it at home, including jarred spaghetti sauce. The recipe won’t win any awards but I was excited to learn how to get it up and online for the public! To me, it was quite an achievement.
My story…
You see, I was so new to blogging, I had just barely discovered what a blog was! 🤣 Prior to that I was working as an administrator in a school and writing parttime for a parenting magazine. A friend suggested I start a blog to try to earn some extra cash and my reply was “What’s a blog?” It was a complete unknown to me. But I tried it, and I liked it! And, yes, it took a very long while but I eventually began to make money. (The first time I earned anything it was $.16. You read that right. SIXTEEN CENTS! I was so thrilled, you’d think it was $16oo dollars! My husband just shook his head wondering what his crazy wife could possibly be thinking but it gave me hope!)
Over the years, I have made friends with other bloggers. Some are no longer blogging; many are! And, not to hurt anybody’s feelings, I have developed some favorites.
My favorite bloggers
There are a some longtime bloggers that I have developed a special attachment to. I love their professionalism and their warmth.
Just recently I was excited to see a few of them started to show up at my blog parties, following long absences. When I saw that they had essentially “come back home,” it occurred to me that I would really like to introduce them to you. ❤️ I think you will agree that their blogs are excellent and I hope that you will like them enough to follow them wherever you can.
That being said, I am selecting just a few of my favorite veteran FOOD bloggers first to highlight for the next few weeks. They all publish a lot of recipes with great pictures. I call them “Pin-worthy” images. Some are 100% food blogging, others do a combo of food and other family-friendly topics.
Now introducing: Yummi Haus
For the first install, I’d like to introduce you to Yummi Haus. Gina Kleinworth is the blogger and this name is a rebrand for her. Originally her blog was called “Kleinworth & Co.”
You will see on her logo that Gina started blogging in 2008, 4 years before I did.
What Gina says about her own blog: “Yummi Haus is all about comfort food—homestyle breakfasts, savory snacks, cozy dinners, and nostalgic treats just like grandma used to make.” Yes, Yummi Haus features an abundance of scrumptious recipes but it also has unique DIY projects & crafts and holiday themes for your pleasure!
For a sample of what her blog has to offer, I selected Gina’s patriotic mini-cheesecakes recipe to share with you.
See what I mean about the photography? Gina is a real pro. I love images that make you just want to reach out and take a bite! I suggest that you click over to get the recipe on Gina’s website and then pin it to your favorite Pinterest board. That way you’ll have it when you want it. I did! Be sure to follow her on all of your social media, too.
Well, I hope you enjoyed my little trip down “memory lane” and meeting my friend: Gina Kleinworth

P.S. I am an Amazon affiliate… just wanted you to know that. All it means is, though you will always get the same great price no matter how you get there, when you do go over to Amazon by clicking a link from my blog and then buy things, I probably will make a small commission. (Some things, like gift cards, do not pay commissions to us but most items do.)
In advance, “thank you” for shopping Amazon! ![]()

Ever had a power outage? I hate them! My neighbor has a generator like this one and it pops on within a few seconds of a blackout. What a great invention!
