I know, I know … the item below looks a little out of place at this party. OK, very out of place. But, hear me out.

We just hosted a baby shower at a local cabin for my granddaughter. When we arrived to set up, we realized that NOBODY had given music a thought…and we instantly knew that that cabin was way too quiet.

My son in law just happened to be there. He had stopped by to lift heavy things, like tables and chairs, for us. He is a general contractor and in his truck was his DeWalt job site radio. He brings it to work every day for music or weather reports and the like. The guys keep it on all day long.

It isn’t all that pretty looking for a baby shower so we set it underneath a folding chair in the corner and the music just lilted through the place. The sound quality is the best and I instantly became a BIG DeWalt portable Bluetooth radio fan. They are built for a beating, so to speak, and they sound oh, so sweet. Anyhow, if you have anyone in your life like a cowboy, trucker, farmer, rancher, construction worker, on a road crew… you know… who loves music …. this would make such a great gift!

So, do you have a loved one who is a hard working hands-on laborer? Our son-in-love is a builder and he always takes this radio with him. In fact, we were having a family baby shower in a cabin this week with no background music available. So, he dropped his DeWalt Job Site Radio off to us. Marble Brownies aka Cheesecake Brownies

Marble Brownies [also known as Cheesecake Brownies] have always been a favorite easy-to-make dessert in our household. This recipe satisfies two sweet-cravings all at the same time -cheesecake and chocolate!

There are quite a few recipes out there for “marble brownies,” also called “cheesecake brownies” but this Duncan Hines version– straight from their website and brownie mix boxes– is one that I prefer.
Any of the Duncan Hines brownie mixes work fine in this recipe.

Marble Cheesecake Brownies Recipe

Ingredients

1 pkg Duncan Hines® Brownie Mix [any kind] – made according to directions on the box

PLUS these ingredients for the cheesecake “filling.”

6 oz cream cheese, softened

6 tbsp butter or margarine, softened

6 tbsp granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 tbsp all-purpose flour

1 tsp vanilla extract

Pyrex glass baking dish

.

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 ºF.
Grease bottom of 8×8-inch pan.
Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth in medium mixing bowl. Stir in sugar, egg, flour and vanilla. Beat until smooth; set aside.
Prepare brownie mix according to package the directions for cake-like brownies.
Spread half of brownie batter in prepared pan. Spoon cream cheese mixture over batter.
Spoon dollops of remaining brownie batter over top.
Swirl brownie and cream cheese batter together with a knife or spatula.
Bake at 350 ºF for 36 to 39 minutes or until set. Cool completely. Chill 2 hours.

Plagued by PET HAIR???

When I first tried a Shark vacuum cleaner I almost cried for joy. Everything about it is wonderful. That was over 10 years ago and SHARK is still my go-to vacuum for lots of reasons but, especially, the pet hair pickup.

It is my dream come true!
