The truth about my office chair is that it’s simply the best. I know I just said that but it bears repeating. I am absolutely serious about this. As a writer and a teacher, I spend a lot of time in this low-back armless office desk chair. I have had to use other chairs for various jobs in the past and they were just mediocre. At first everything would seem really good and then I’d find that things started hurting. A hip, A knee. Whatever.
Then, as I had no options because the chair belonged to my workplace, I’d start the wrestling match with trying to make things work. A pillow behind my back? A cushion under my butt? A foot rest to change how my feet touched the floor?
Every time, it only was a temporary fix and often it didn’t last the day. At one wonderful job, the boss helped me play “musical chairs” with the office chairs. He let me try each and every one to see if we could find something better. What a great guy. If we’d known about this one at the time, he would have bought one for me. Then the day came when he did order some more chairs and, you guessed it, this was one of them! Day after day I marveled at how great it felt to sit on a chair pain-free.*
