Welcome to the Happiness Is Homemade Link Party!

We are now into the second week of June and as the saying goes, “it’s busting out all over”. The flowers are really bursting with blooms and the flower beds and planters are filling in. We are enjoying our updated backyard before it gets too unbearably hot. Hope you are getting settled into summer, too.

I hope those of you who received last week’s features enjoyed them. This week I looked for summer ideas to share. If you have Father’s Day posts, bring them on. Let’s all enjoy these lazy, hazy days of summer.

I lied ~ well, not intentionally. Last week I told you that it was my last week to be hostess. Then I was reminded that I am also hostess for the month of June. (Do I hear a woo~who or groans?) So here, I am ~ back as your hostess for Happiness is Homemade Link Party 273.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Now we turn our attention to summer and all the activities ahead: summer entertaining, camp, the lake, the beach, picnics. Father’s Day is in 2 weeks. (My birthday is in less than 2 weeks, but you don’t have to put that on your calendar.) Then July 4th is in a little more than 5 weeks. O.K., I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s enjoy the first week of June.

This photo from Jamie at So Much Better than Age immediately drew my eye. I love how she styled her mantle for the summer with peonies. Jamie’s photography is gorgeous so enjoy the scenery.

Heading outside, I love the summer blue and white tablescape theme from Jenn of Clean and Scentsible. I would rather enjoy dining outdoors anytime and seating at a pretty designed table makes the experience even more lovely.

If you have a picnic on your summer agenda, then you definitely want to check out this post from Jennifer at Busy Being Jennifer. She as a great list of essential picnic supplies for you.

Whether you are going to the lake, the beach or your neighbor pool, you need something cute to carry your essentials. Ashley from Yarn Scissors Silk gave this plain woven tote an upscale look with some DIY magic.

Can you believe that Father’s Day is 3 weeks away? The ladies at 5 Minutes for Mom have made an easy personalized tray to delight any dad on his special day.

We are deep diving into May which is one of my favorite months. Flowers are really starting to bloom, we can definitely wear white jeans and sandals, and it’s not too hot yet. “What is so rare as a day in May?” or was it June? Whichever, I’m enjoying these warm sunny days.

And speaking of entertaining, we have to have great summer recipes, right? I love this colorful grilled zucchini boat caprese dish from Brandi at Home Cooking Memories. It would look so pretty on a buffet table for a summer party. I know it will be delicious.

What girl doesn’t love a tea party? I would love to be invited to this sweet one from Shelley at Calypso in the Country.

It’s Mother’s Day and if you are a mom, a mom~to~be, have a mom or a grandmother, favorite aunt, or know someone who acts as a mom, we at Happiness is Homemade Link party 270 hope that you are having a marvelous day.
This week I shared the mother’s day cards I made for my grandkids to give to their moms. You might like to PIN it for next year.
Spring has settled in and we love the blooming flowers everywhere (not the pollen and allergies!). I’m so excited to be hostess for the rest of the month of May. I always think of May flowers and showers, the May pole, and the lusty month of May (from Camelot).

This week’s Happiness is Homemade Link Party 270 features are all about celebration ~ our talents, our outdoors, our seasons, and our festivities.

I love eating outdoors and this beautiful blue and white tablescape in the garden from Judith at Botanic Bleu has May written all over it.

Summer is for cocktails by the pool or patio and this Strawberry Limoncello Spritzer from Erin at DelightfulEMade looks so refreshing and summery.

I can’t resist a good DIY project ~ especially one that is so easy, but packs a wallop of usefulness. Ashley at Cherish Bliss turns plain ole terra cotta pots into something special.

Taking one thing and using it as another is always a favorite project for me. What a creative idea decorating a hat box as a card collector for a special event: wedding reception, birthday party, graduation. Thanks to Tee at Tee Diddly Dee for this suggestion.

To be honest, what attracted me to this project at first was the book by Peter Mayle. I love his stories of living in Provence. But then the actual DIY grabbed me. I’m always losing paper bookmarks, and I also have random pieces of ribbon and buttons so I loved learning a way to use them from Ashley at Yarn Scissors Silk.
