Today many of us in the Great White North -aka Canada-  are celebrating Turkey Dinner “Covid style.” No matter how small a celebration it may be,  we are still thankful for family, friends, health and many other things.

apple happiness is homemade

Happiness is Homemade 341

This week’s features are all sparked by my fascination with Fall and anything apple related.  I know Fall is pumpkins but it also is all about picking apples and making scrumptious recipes and crafts.

apple vintage tray

Let’s get started shall we first up is a stunning Fall Apple Tray from the House on Silverado. She opted for an early Fall theme because the eather is changing so quickly.  Working with apples instead of pumpkins. a perfect opportunity to display some of my vintage baking utensils, since several of them worked with my color scheme. Plus, apples and baking go hand-in-hand, right?

homemade apple cake

Looking for a cake with fresh fruit?   Well  how about a  moist  and no-fail Fresh Apple Cake with perfect amount of sweetness plus large chunks of apple, that adds a great flavor and texture to this cake. Treat and Trick shared this awesome cake on her blog and with us this week. She uses Granny Smith apples for that tart apple flavour. Mine is made of  granny smith but other varieties  such as gala, red delicious,  McIntosh or  combination of them  should  work too.   Don’t use a food processor  to chop  the apples. It should be roughly chopped into 1/2 in chunk.

apple fritters on a plate

and then I saw Apple Fritters, and went on my goodness.  How tasty do these look.  Cook,Clean and then Repeat has me wanting to try this that is for sure. This easy apple fritters recipe will quickly become one of your favorites. They’re such a delicious fruit dessert. The combination of crunchy, sweet, and fruity deliciousness is a classic accompaniment to any meal in my mind.

fall table

OK, face palm I fibbed not an apple post but it is a Fall Tablescape.  I saw the hint of Orangey Red and the leaves and the vintage centrepiece and it sparked an interest. Maybe no Apples in Clover House’s Table for Two but I bet she was thinking apples.  As usual, I mix a few old pieces with new ones.  I love using my Pioneer Woman (PW) dishes for my table settings.  They literally can go for any occasion or season!  Also, in case you’re new here, I use my vintage flatware for photos only, we do not eat with these beauties!

apple ice tea

and just in case all that reading made you thirsty, how about a Spiced Apple Ice Tea from Cindy’s on Line Recipe Box? A seasonal twist to everyone’s favorite refreshing drink * ICED TEA * … Although I do live in Texas, this isn’t Sweet Tea (except for what’s in the apple cider packet) * with sugar or sugar-free

Happy Sunday!  We are so glad you are here.  This week’s party was created for us by Beverly  from Eclectic Red Barn. August is flying by so fast and it seems that fall will be here before you know it. This week Beverly tried to  gather up some autumn ideas for a little inspiration and my pick of the week could be very helpful to those, like me,  who will be homeschooling this fall.

Features include:

Whether it is a warm August evening or cool fall night, s’mores are always a hit.  This S’mores Dessert doesn’t require a campfire to enjoy. Check out the easy recipe over at Swirls of Flavor.

Welcome to the Party!

Happy Sunday!  It’s Beverly from Eclectic Red Barn, your host for the month of August.  I hope you are enjoying the month of August since it is half way over. Can you believe that? Summer seems to NOT want to let go of the heat. I know many are dealing with high temps that are not normal for many places up north. We are hot, but it is usual for us here in Florida. Hope you are staying cool.

I hope you enjoy the features that I have chosen for this week.

Features include:

Nothing is comfort food than a dish of mac’n cheese. Check out all of that gooey cheese and you make it from scratch. If you have never made home made mac’n cheese then you need to try Smoked Gouda, Cheddar, and Parmesan Mac ‘n’ Cheese from Nancy-C.

Some of my most treasured items are ones that belonged to my Mom or Grandmother. Niky over at The House on Silverado found some Vintage Embroidered Flour Sack Towels that were embroidered by her mother and her two grandmothers. What a precious gift.
I have made numerous peach recipes, but I have never made Peach Butter. You even make it in a crock pot. Stop by Slow Cooker Living for the complete recipe.
This Summer Watermelon Tablescape just makes me smile. It is so cheerful and bright. Stop by Whispers of the Heart and check out all of her watermelon ideas.
Summertime and ice cream just go hand in hand, but flowers and ice cream? Check over at Penney’s Vintage Home to see how they go together.

Happiness Is Homemade Link Party

Happy Sunday!  It’s Beverly from Eclectic Red Barn, your host for the month of August.  This weekend has been tax free weekend for items you might need for going back to school. Do you take advantage of that?

I know that many are still trying to sort out the whole school thing. I must admit, I am glad I am not in your shoes. Good luck with all of it. Hopefully, it will all work out.

I hope you enjoy all of the features that I have chosen for you.

Features include:

We love smores and it is always nice to find a new way to enjoy them – a smores dip. Yummy! Check out this great recipe over at Organized Island and get ready to dip in.

I have so much Basil in my garden and can’t seem to use it all up. I have made lots of pesto, put it in dishes and even on pizza. Now I can freeze it so I can have it later. Stop by Walking on Sunshine Recipes for how to freeze Basil.

Are these Lady Bugs just too cute for words. The kids would have fun creating them. I think they would look great on a wreath as well. For a complete tutorial, stop by White House Crafts.
Ann has done a wonderful job on saving this Candlestick Table. You can find complete details on how she did it over at The Apple Street Cottage.
Chas has found a way to create these lovely Light Up House Numbers and you don’t have to use mason jars. She gives you three ways to create them. Head on over to Chas CrazyCreations to see how it is done.

Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #334

Hello dear friends. Can you believe that it is August? I am Beverly from Eclectic Red Barn, your host for the month of August and I am so excited you are here. I hope you enjoy all of the features that I have chosen for you.
Happiness Is Homemade Link Party

Features include:

With the weather being so hot here in Florida, this luscious Coconut Cream Pie from Marilyn’s Treats would be a wonderful dessert and you don’t have to bake it. Now that is my kind of dessert. Yummy, easy and you don’t have to heat up the kitchen.

What a refreshing way to unwind with this Top Shelf Margarita by The Kitchen is My Playground, that won’t break the bank. I don’t drink often, but I would enjoy this yummy margarita.

Can you just imagine, filling your bath tub and adding these Wild Rose Bath Bombs from ECCENTRICITIES BY JVG and climbing in? Now that would be an inviting bath and it would smell so good besides. I need to make some of these for myself and as gifts.

It is zucchini season and everyone has more zucchini than they want or need. If you have some extra, why not try these Crispy Zucchini Fritters from The House on Silverado. I know what I am going to make with my extra zucchini.

I know that we have all been indoors so much lately, but why not get your picnic basket out, create a little charcuterie board and head outdoors for a Picnic In The Woods.  Sometimes just being outside among the tress, flowers and birds just makes the world seem better. Read how Karin and hubby spent the day in the woods.
