.

If you are looking for a quick, delicious nut-free snack for your child to take to school, take a look at this => ☑️Seed Based Crispy Treats Nut-free Power Bar.  This power bar is recommended by over 200 real customers with 4.5 stars on Amazon!

Over the years I have witnessed two severe food-based allergic reactions and I would never want to be responsible for triggering it in anyone. They were just in the vicinity of them.  It is scary.

back to school

Most of the South has already headed back to school, but I have heard that some of our Northern friends haven’t quite gotten there yet. They will head back in the next 2 weeks or so, so I thought I would share one final week of back-to-school ideas.

Hello, everyone! It’s Niki from Life as a LEO Wife here, and I will be choosing the features for the month of August. I’m so excited to see all of the amazing things you have to share this week!

Welcome to Happiness is Homemade #546

I planned to share end of summer ideas, like decor and such, but I didn’t have enough to do a theme. Apparently, I need my features as themed as my decor, ha-ha! So, let’s take a look at the awesome back-to-school features, and pray that our friends who still have kiddos at home ALL day can hang on for a few more days or weeks.

Another school year means another round of fall and spring school pictures. Morgan at Charleston Crafted shared how to hang a staircase gallery wall where you can display all of those years of pictures and see your little one growing right before your eyes every day!

Beth over at Creatively Beth shared an adorable idea for a back-to-school teacher gift idea. My mother and grandmother were teachers, and the items that Beth included are things that teachers will be so thankful for because teachers have to spend their own money throughout the year for supplies!

Last week I shared an idea for laminating & reusing a printable for back-to-school pictures to have K-12 cohesive photos, but this week Tonya of 24 Hour Family shared these cute printables for photos, one for each year of school. Now you have cute pictures to put in that senior year photo slideshow (I know, we don’t want to think about that day coming too soon!!).

Do you have a heavy sleeper in your household?    This alarm clock will get them up!

If you want to have breakfast ready to go easily as soon as you get up in the morning or if your kiddo loves breakfast, even for lunch, these breakfast Bento Box ideas from Kelli at 3 Boys & a Dog. There are more than 25 ideas, so your child won’t get food weariness like my hubby and I have from eating tacos my son loves EVERY 2 nights! These breakfast ideas travel well, so if you have to eat on the road, you’re good to go.

Darcy and Brian has a tutorial for adorable coffee filter sunflowers that is great for little ones. Teachers can use this for pre-school through first grade or so as they discuss lessons on flowers, seeds, or seasons or even just for a fun craft time activity. This is also great for moms to do with little ones left behind while their older siblings go to school.

Hello, everyone! It’s Niki from Life as a LEO Wife here, and I will be choosing the features for the month of August. I’m back to work on the blog after a few months of hospitalizations and illness, and I am so happy to have made it back in time to choose the features for the first week this month! School has started back where I live, so I thought that I would share some ideas for getting back into the groove of things for parents and grandparents. Let’s get started! . My son loves waffles, so I had to choose these scrambled egg and cheese stuffed waffles as our back-to-school breakfast feature from Drugstore Divas! The recipe looks fancy but seems SO easy to make!

Back To School Tips For Moms

Back to school tips for moms and dads to get their kids ready. #tips

What date do your kids go back to school this year? Some schools start in early August. Others are after Labor Day in September. Whatever the Big Day is, you should be getting things ready today. Early planning for going back to school will keep your family on target and minimize stress. In fact, you can make it fun!

Five Simple Steps To Help You  To Get Ready For A New School Year

Here are some simple ways to get you started:

  1. Make a file for each of your children.
  2. Start a family calendar/planner for keeping track of important dates.
  3. Find the school calendar online and print a copy of it.
  4. Set appointments now for everyone in the family.
  5. Make a shopping list.

This blog contains affiliate links. ♥

family calendar

Now, let’s add a little detail to each of these tips.

1 Make a file for each of your children. Using colorful individual file folders, or creating sections in one three-ring binder, will keep important information for each child readily available. It may even make sense to make one for each of the adults in the home and even the pets. These files will contain paperwork that pertains to each person uniquely. Some of these papers will be: newsletters from the school or classroom teacher, medical records to be brought to school, school supplies lists, reading assignments due the first day of school, sports team information, forms to be completed, sale flyers and/or coupons to take shopping etc.

2 Start a family calendar for tracking important dates.  When you pick out your planner, be sure that there is plenty of  writing room in the calendar portion. You will be writing down all important upcoming events including the first day of school, doctors’ appointments, shopping dates etc. Don’t forget vet appointments for your pets and other dates like car maintenance [oil change?] and so forth. Being able to see it all on a master calendar will help you to avoid over-booking yourself or forgetting something important. Write the entries in pencil or use an erasable pen, knowing that things do change. It will keep you planner looking neater if you erase and then rewrite instead of crossing things out.

3 Find the school calendar online.  Most schools have a website. They should have a printable calendar for you with vacation days and school events noted on it. If they do not have a printable calendar, call and ask them for a paper copy to keep your child’s folder.  Use the school calendar to refer to; write the pertinent school events on the calendar in your planner. Occasionally schools do have to change planned events. Keep an eye out for school newsletters in case that does occur. There is nothing worse than showing up on the wrong date or going to the wrong location.

4 Set appointments. By now you probably have arranged for school physicals or dental appointments. You will also want to set up hair appointments, plan days to take the kids school shopping, etc.  Again, write them on your master calendar.*

*What about keeping the dates on the calendar in your phone? Good idea, but do it both ways. People have experienced cell phone failures, you know. [I dropped mine on the garage floor as I was getting out of my car. The screen shattered and using it was impossible. I was so glad that I also had phone numbers and schedules written down.]

5 Shopping Lists. The school should provide a school supplies list for each grade. You can take the list with you. Keep an ongoing shopping list for each child as you discover clothing and other items that will need to be replaced.  Kids grow so fast. where you may have thought a jacket or pair of sneakers would still work fine for the beginning of a new year, you may be surprised. Check everything out and write down everything that no longer fits or is worn out. You will need to get them.

So what are you doing to get ready for school to start again? It doesn’t have to be a hassle. Plan some family fun for those school shopping outings.  Grab an ice cream cone or even go out to breakfast or lunch together. It can become a favorite time of year. It is all up to you!

Backpacks today are used for so much more than school. They also serve as travel totes, gym bags, art supplies organizers, overnight bags and even toy holders. They are used every day,  year round,  and many children have more than one as they need them for different occasions and functions.

Here are the best backpacks for little girls we have found!

I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen it year after year with my preschool class , but children definitely identify closely with what their backpacks look like. Whenever they have a new one, their first words to me as they arrive in our classroom are “Mrs. Pies, see my new backpack?” They want me to “ooh and ahh” as I inspect it closely and they usually want me to look at their favorite part real close – like the picture of a beloved cartoon character on it.

New lunch bags get the same spotlight but more-so. We see a “lunch bag fashion show” at snack time AND lunchtime, too. They love it and so do I. Let’s face it, those bags will be going everywhere with them for a long time. It is important that they like them a lot!

Amazon’s best selling backpacks this year for little girls are more fashionable than ever before!  Some of those backpacks even come with matching lunch bags or dolls / plush toys. You have got to see them.

Well constructed backpacks will last more than one year. Last year’s can move into a new role – like a travel tote for the car – and the new one can be their very special backpack for school!

Let’s start with some best selling backpacks for little girls in preschool, kindergarten and the younger primary school grades:

And here are some really cute – and pretty – selections that are favorites of elementary school age girls – and older!

And, of course, there are the famous characters all over the backpacks that little girls just love. Here are the best backpacks for girls who love princesses and other popular children’s movie and tv characters!
