Easy BBQ Pork Chops On The Grill

bbq pork chops
My family will eat just about anything as long as there is barbecue sauce on it. Chicken – ribs – pork chops. What I love about barbecue pork chops is that the prep time is minimal and the flavor is great! Serve it with your favorite sides – coleslaw, salad, corn on the cob, salt potatoes…whatever you fancy.
This particular day I was in a hurry. Having just come home from a long day at work, I wanted to keep things very simple.  So, I pulled out some great looking center-cut pork chops from the frig and poured barbecue sauce all over them. Next, I pulled a box of Au gratin Potatoes from the cupboard and got the water boiling for that. Then I fired up the grill and got busy.  It was so easy and we loved every bite.

Getting tired of chicken with barbecue sauce? I am. Oh, don’t get me wrong. When I’m in the mood for barbecue, chicken is my first choice. But when I came up with this recipe, it was simply time to try something new.
I had a can of beer on the shelf — it was left from making Belgian Brisket — so I looked up recipes online that contained beer. None of them exactly fit what I had on hand, so I made up my own and it tasted great.

If you like yours spicier, increase amounts and play around with it. My hubby likes his food “uneventful” so I kept the spices on the lighter side.

The process may sound labor intensive but, really, it is not. The reason I started in the oven and moved the chicken to my grill is because of me!   I am notorious for starting something on the grill and getting caught up making sides indoors only to return and find it burned beyond recognition.

Rather than messing this up, I opted to reduce the outdoor cooking time. Everything came out great. Delicious!

Beer Marinated Chicken Recipe for Grilling

Ingredients
6 bone-in, skin-on chicken pieces
1 12 oz can of beer
1/3 cup olive oil
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp cayenne
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp sea salt

Directions
Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and add the raw chicken. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator 1-5 hours, prior to cooking.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Remove the chicken from the bowl (saving the marinade in the refrigerator) and put it on a foil-covered jelly roll pan.
Precook the chicken in the oven for 30 minutes.
Heat the grill for 5 minutes on high, before the 30 minutes is up.
Move the chicken to the hot grill.
Turn the pieces often to prevent burning.
Each time you turn the chicken, spoon a little marinade over it.
Test the chicken using a meat thermometer.
It is done when it reaches 190 degrees F.
Serve with salad and corn on the cob or any delicious side dish that your family loves!

Grilling is an outdoor “sport” but how are things going indoors?

If you’ve been struggling with a less-than great vacuum cleaner … and especially if you have a furry pet shedding pet hair around your home … check this out!  I fell in love with my Shark vacuum cleaner when I had 2 beautiful fur-making yellow labs.  The pet hair problem was a nightmare but I love my dogs so much that the only solution was to find a new vacuum that was great at cleaning it up.

Delicious grilled Smithfield Marinated Fresh Pork loin with field green salad adorned with grilled peaches

Have you found that your desire to serve great weeknight meals that are both different and delicious collides with a very busy family schedule? You keep falling back on the old faithful recipes that go together fast. I sure have been there. That is why I am so excited about Smithfield® Marinated Fresh Pork. It comes in several varieties that are  all 100% Fresh Pork. They are already marinated and perfectly seasoned. So now you don’t have to turn to less flavorful options when you are in a hurry to answer that “what’s for dinner” question!

I am particularly fond of the Smithfield® Applewood Smoked Bacon Pork Loin Filet so that is what I ordered this time from Walmart’s Grocery Pick Up Online service.

So, when I talk about busy, I mean I am BUSY! In addition to my usual work schedule, we have had special event after special event on the calendar this summer: dance recitals, piano recitals, birthday parties, baby showers. I am so busy that even grocery shopping is hard to fit in.

That is why I decided to pre-order my Smithfield® Applewood Smoked Bacon Pork Loin Filets  online from Walmart. That way I could have Walmart pull my order together for me and I could just drop by for them to bring it right to my car. It was so easy. Love it!

How To Place A Walmart Online Grocery Pick Up Order

First, go to the Walmart website sign into your Walmart online account. (If you do not have one, it is so simple to do.)

Next, search for the products you want to order. In this case, I entered the search term “Smithfield Marinated Fresh Pork” and this is the screen that came up.

Then  I clicked on the Smithfield Applewood Smoked Bacon Fresh Pork Loin Filet and ordered 2 of them. After that, I ordered some other things I needed, paid for the order using my credit card and chose a day and time that I would be stopping by to get it.  The time slots are an hour long so it gave me a little flexibility. I chose 2pm-3pm. See? There is my order in my cart=>

I drove to Walmart on the day and time I had requested. There is a big sign on the building saying “Pick Up.” I pulled around that side of the building and pulled into a marked parking space for pick up. There is a telephone number on the sign for customers to call. I called it and they answered immediately. After identifying myself, they cheerfully replied that they would be right out with my order. A young man, wearing a special employee vest, came to the car and put it in the trunk for me. It was that easy!

I received an email confirmation after I picked up my order.

Grilling Smithfield Marinated Fresh Pork

Now it was time to go home and fire up that grill! Smithfield Marinated Fresh Pork makes quick meals so easy. I simply put together a field greens salad for a side dish and cooked the Smithfield Marinated Fresh Pork till it was done.

Smithfield Marinated Fresh Pork is made with real, all-natural ingredients, which I love. Other all-natural ingredients include pork broth, vinegar, salt and spices – ingredients you can pronounce!

.

What is “done?”  The label says that the internal temperature at the thickest part should be 160º F so that is what I did.

Soon as it reaches temperature, take it off the grill and let it sit out for 10 minutes. Now it is ready for you to slice and serve!

While you are waiting for that 10 minutes, make your side dish. This field greens salad is just as easy to create as the pork was to cook on the grill.

Field Greens Salad With Grilled Peaches Recipe

Ingredients

1 bag of field greens

1 fresh peach, sliced into wedges and grilled slightly

1/2 cup whole walnuts

1- 2 T Feta cheese

Olive oil to drizzle

Cider vinegar to drizzle

Garlic powder – sprinkle to taste

Directions

Grill wedges of fresh peach on the grill for 1-2 minutes.

Remove the peaches and let them cool.

Put field greens in a big salad bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, vinegar and garlic powder; toss through. Add walnuts and feta cheese. Gently mix through. Dish onto salad plates and garnish with peach wedges. Dinner is served!

Quick Lunch Idea=>  leftover grilled Smithfield Marinated Fresh Pork is so perfect for a quick lunch the next day, It tastes great sliced and served on a nice soft sandwich roll or just slightly warmed on a plate with a dollop of mayonnaise. Yum!

Now, this is fun >>> Smithfield® is hosting a Get Grilling America “Hero Of The Grill” Contest where the winner will get $5,000.00 and their name might even appear on a racecar, too.

How To Make Your Diet A Culinary Delight – Grill It!

Grilling is always fun, but most people who grill food don’t know that they are consuming a healthy version of the food, especially when it comes to meat. Meat that is grilled on a barbecue is so much healthier. By meat, I mean any meat: chicken, beef, pork, lamb, seafood and many others.

Grilled fish can taste delicious and is an excellent healthy choice, too #healthyeatng

Grilling your food is ideal for people following a fitness regimen because grilled food requires less oil, less salt and less of everything unhealthy. Today, we will be sharing two mouth watering grilled fish recipes.

Grilled halibut salad

Grilled Halibut Salad with Beet-Carrot Slaw Recipe

Ingredients

1 ¼ lbs., halibut, skinned

1 large carrot, shredded

1 large beet, shredded

¼ cup lemon juice

6 sprigs tarragon

2 tbsps., finely chopped tarragon

2 heads torn butter-head lettuce

1 tsp., whole grain mustard

¼ tsp., freshly ground pepper

5 tsps., extra virgin olive oil

¾ tsp., salt, divided

Servings: 4 Persons

Cooking Time: 30 minutes

Directions

Preheat grill on medium heat.

Tear a piece of foil that could accommodate the fish properly. Coat the foil with cooking spray. If you are unable to find halibut, then you can use swordfish as well.

Place lemon slices on the oil followed by fish on top of those lemon slices.

Sprinkle ¼ tsp salt.

Add tarragon sprigs.

It’s time to grill the fish. Make sure you don’t turn the foil until you see flakes. It will take 15-20 minutes depending on the thickness of the fish.

Make the dressing: take a bowl and add some olive oil, lemon juice, mustard, chopped tarragon, pepper and remaining salt. Mix all the ingredients well.

In another bowl, toss lettuce along with ¼ cup of the dressing you just made. Divide it into 4 equal parts followed by adding carrot and beet into the bowl. Now, toss with 2 tbsps., of the dressing and then, divide the fish (take out tarragon sprigs and lemon slices) and beet-carrot slaw among the plates.

Finally, drizzle with the remaining dressing.

That was all about the first recipe. I hope you like it  Let’s move onto the next recipe, a delicious tuna fish with olive relish!

Grilled tuna with olive relish recipe #healthyeating

Grilled Tuna with Olive Relish Recipe

Grilled tuna itself is delicious, but when it is combined with olives and parsley, the flavor becomes a whole lot pungent. You can serve this dish with steamed potatoes and grilled vegetables.

Ingredients

1 ¾ lbs., trimmed tuna steak, cut into six portions.

¼ + ½ cup celery, finely chopped.

½ tsp dried oregano.

Olive Relish.

1 tsp freshly ground pepper.

1/3 cup black olives, chopped.

1 clove minced garlic.

1 tbsp., lemon juice.

1/8 + ¼ tsp salt.

1 tbsp., + 1 tsp extra-virgin olive oil.

Lemon wedges (for garnish)

Servings: 6 Persons

Cooking Time: 25 minutes

Directions

  1. First, prepare the olive relish. For that, you will have to take a small bowl and add olives, oregano, parsley, lemon juice, garlic, celery, salt, pepper, and oil. Mix all the ingredients well.

  2. Now, preheat grill to medium-high heat.

  3. Take all six tuna steaks and rub each piece with oil followed by seasoning all the pieces with salt and pepper.

  4. Put the tuna steak on the grill and let it cook until both sides are seared. It will take 4 minutes for each side to cook.

  5. Place tuna steaks on a plate and serve with olive relish. For decoration, add lemon wedges.

Note: An important thing to keep in mind while preparing olive relish is that it will save for an hour, so only prepare the olive relish if you can finish with the grilling part within an hour.

Delight Your Guests At The Cookout – Grill Up Some Italian Sausage!

What do you like to have at a cookout? Burgers and hots? Maybe chicken barbecue? Mmmm. Me, too. But, sometimes, I like to mix it up and make Italian Sausage on the grill. Favorite toppings? Sauteed green peppers and onions are a winning combination!
cookouts, summertime food, family gatherings, family fun, picnics
Italian sausage can be purchased in links or patties. Both have a lot of fat in them so, when grilling, keep a close eye on them. You want them crispy and brown but not burnt…unless you like burnt. If you do, burn yours but save out some before they reach the “burned stage” for everyone else! LOL
Links: When I grill Italian sausage links, first I precook them in the oven. Some people prefer to boil them but I like the oven-method better, primarily for easy cleanup. I put them in a baking dish lined with aluminum foil. Prick them a couple of times with a fork to allow the oil to ooze out. Bake on 300º for about 30 minutes. Then I move them to a hot grill and complete the process till they are browned.
Patties: Italian sausage patties do not need precooking. Preheat your grill and turn it down to medium or low. Put the raw patties on the grill and turn them frequently till golden brown with some crisp edges. Remove and serve.

Italian sausage patties, grilling, cookout, picnic food

How to prepare sauteed green peppers and onions:

  • Slice the peppers and onions in narrow strips.
  • Put 2-3 T cooking oil in a skillet and heat on medium to medium high heat.
  • Place the peppers and onions in the skillet and gently turn with a spatula.

grilling, cookouts, summer food, picnics, 4th of July
When are they done? This is a matter of taste. You can serve them anywhere from al dente to very soft with the onions carmelized. I opt for the later.
Finally, we spread mayonnaise* on a soft sandwich roll, add the sausage and pepper/onion combo and chow down! *Mustard tastes great, too.
Ready for a cookout? Serve Italian Sausage, hot off the grill!

    Grilled Shish Kabobs

    Yum

    By Sinea Pies
From May to September, the appetites in our household gravitate toward seasonal fare. We light up the grill, slice fresh garden veggies –which are prevalent– and make one of my favorites: Grilled Shish Kabob.

Shish kabob is a very healthy selection and oh so good. We lace it with steak, chicken, bacon, shrimp or just-veggies making a perfect main dish or even a great side.

    Chicken Shish Kabob
    Ingredients
Boneless chicken, cut into 1 inch squares, marinated*
    Pineapple chunks — 1/2 – 1 can
    Cherry tomatoes
Green pepper cut into 1 inch pieces
    Fresh whole mushrooms, washed
White onion, cut into large pieces
Marinade (Italian salad dressing or Teriyaki sauce work well)

    Directions
Marinate chicken for 1 hour then preheat your grill. a
Alternate ingredients, slipping them onto skewers.
Lay your kabobs on the hot grill, turning occasionally, until the chicken is just done.
Serve on rice with soy sauce or on sub rolls.

*Note: substitute beef, shrimp or pork for chicken for a change of pace!

Sides: Tossed salad, macaroni salad, couscous, salt potatoes & corn or potato salad.
